As a new school year began, so did a new DECA Season at Mount Saint Charles. DECA is in its third year as a club at Mount and has been one of the fastest growing clubs in Mount. We started with 7 members and now are up to 50! DECA is a club revolving around leadership, business, and starting a professional career. DECA is an amazing opportunity for any high school student. This club focuses on expanding skills such as public speaking, leadership, and collaboration to create a well rounded future professional.

Last year our chapter had a successful competitive season with 8 people placing in the state competition. We also had 6 people qualify for the international competition in Florida, 3 of those 6 competed in Florida. In the international competition our students learned how to network properly with students across the globe. In fact I had the amazing opportunity to help out and befriend a girl from the Czech Republic.

This year we hope to prepare our members as much as possible for the state competition. To practice for the competition we make sure all our students focus on key pieces essential for their events. Practices can include teamwork, problem solving activities, mock competitions, and more! This preparation strives for members to qualify to compete in Atlanta Ga this year.
