Atop being a month full of playful spooks and pumpkin spice drinks, it is also important to remember that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc., one in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. When caught early, however, the survival rate is 99%. In fact, since 1989, due to organizations like the National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc., breast cancer mortality has decreased by 44% as of 2022 (American Cancer Society).
