Valentine’s Day is associated with two distinct colors, pink and red, but why those colors and what do they mean?

Red represents deep love, romance, and intimacy. It brings to mind candlelit dinners and velvet theater curtains, and it is associated with the heart itself. Red is also known as the color of attraction according to psychology, symbolizing strong passion, romance, and desire.

Pink, on the other hand, appears in sweet candy hearts, light pink flowers, teddy bears, lollipops, and balloons. Pink has a softer, more playful tone and is seen as less serious and more fun and whimsical. It is often associated with Galentine’s Day, friendships, and people coming together to exchange small gifts or cards. The color pink represents unconditional love, innocence, nurturing, and kindness.

Together, pink and red show that Valentine’s Day isn’t limited to just one type of love. Red may symbolize passion and romance, while pink highlights friendship, kindness, and care, but both colors remind us that love comes in many forms. Whether you’re giving red roses to a romantic partner or a pink card to a friend or family member, each gesture holds value. Valentine’s Day is ultimately about appreciation, connection, and spreading love in any way you can, because love doesn’t have rules, and it certainly isn’t defined by a single color.
